 ​​In just 6 years from 2008 to 2014, Brett moved his young family from renting to owning their own home and acquiring 5 investment properties all without having to sacrifice their lifestyle.

Brett established Hunter Mortgages in 2014 to share his knowledge and provide  education and advice on loan structuring, property investment and loan selection.

With a Certificate IV in Mortgage Broking and a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Brett helps busy people select, source and structure their loans to better match their goals and their lifestyle.

Our Story

The journey towards founding Hunter Mortgages started with the purchase of our first family home and the subsequent accumulation of a substantial property investment portfolio.

In the beginning, we  struggled to find friendly, helpful and knowledgeable professionals to help us understand where we were at and what was possible.

In these early stages of our journey, we met lots of people that mostly fitted into a few disappointing categories.

  • They wanted to help us learn but lacked the knowledge themselves.
  • They understood lending but did not understand property investment.
  • They wanted to sell us stuff and were not interested in helping us learn.
  • They had a narrow focus that they believed to be the best way.

While building our property portfolio we were very fortunate to find a great mortgage broker and a community full of property investment people that were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Through these relationships, we built our knowledge of property, lending and loan structuring but always remember what it felt like to be unsure of what is possible or where go to with questions.

The aim when creating Yeti Wise was to provide the kind of service we were looking for when we started out and help answer the kind of questions we had on our journey.

  • Can I afford an investment property?
  • How much can I borrow Vs how much should I borrow?
  • Can I have regular holidays and still pay my home loan off early?

Now we get to share what we have learned by providing advice and mentoring on budgeting, cash flow, loan selection, loan structuring and financial concepts.

Ultimately we want to help you understand your finances and know everything is under control so that you can get on with the stuff that matters... enjoying life and having fun.

Hunter Mortgages started life as Yeti Wise and went through a re-brand in 2021.
